The ultimate accolade in the packaging industry recognises the packaging manufacturer that has best combined outstanding financial, business and production performance over the year under review. Entrants must provide the company’s full report and accounts for the financial year that ended between 1 May 2017 and 30 April 2018, and for the previous year. As well as this, a 500 word summary is required highlighting the company's performance and key developments during the year, along with the submission of supporting evidence such as letters of commendation from customers or sample work.

B SME of the Year

Like the flagship Packaging Company category, this award recognises smaller packaging suppliers that have combined outstanding financial, business and production performance. To qualify, entrants must have had an annual turnover of less than £20m during the year under review and must provide the company’s full report and accounts for the financial year that ended between 1 May 2017 and 30 April 2018, and for the previous year. C Design Team of the Year

Open to both design agencies and in-house design teams based in the UK, this category rewards consistently outstanding creative output combined with commitment to addressing the sustainability challenges facing the packaging sector. Judges will consider the design output from a circular economy standpoint, how the team addressed sustainability in their design strategy in terms of a cradle to cradle thinking, clarity of brand communication and, most importantly, how the consumer was engaged in the process of returning the packaging to the recycling and reuse process. Judges will also assess evidence of the value added to the clients’ products and brands through these design principles. Entries should contain a 500 word summary on why the team or agency deserves to win and information about the team (size and who it works for). As well as this, entrants should provide evidence of their sustainable approach to design, the process and value added to products or brands in which it operates, including supporting their sustainability commitments.

H Rising Star Award

Packaging is a hotbed of emerging talent, be it in manufacturing, technology, design or any of the other areas that form the packaging supply chain. This new award has been introduced to celebrate the huge contribution made by a newcomer to the industry. Businesses are invited to nominate people within their own company or in companies they deal with and must explain, in a 500 word submission, how that person is making a difference and why they are worthy of the award. This should include details of the nominees' successes in their career to date, how they have made an impact and highlight their outstanding achievements in the year under review.
