This category is open to luxury shopping or carrier bags. As these products are not sold on the shelf, judges will not be asked to consider shelf stand-out but instead will be briefed to consider how the bag adds value to the brand once it has been given to a shopper.
Luxury Cosmetics/Personal Pack
This category is open to all packaging for premium and luxury cosmetics products including, but not limited to, mascara, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish, eye liner, foundation, face powder and other cosmetics products. In considering the five key criteria laid out above, judges will be briefed to focus not only on the primary packaging of the product but also any presentation cases/boxes or other secondary packaging in which the product is presented or sold
It is also open to all packaging for premium and luxury personal care products including, but not limited to, creams, shampoo and other haircare products and skincare and cleaning products. Perfumes are also under consideration in this category – both primary and presentation cases/boxes or other secondary packaging in which the perfume is presented or sold.
This category is open to all bottles and secondary packs (decorative cases, tins, tubes, cartons, sleeves and other materials), including both soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. Judges will take into account how the secondary packs works with the primary, closures and any labelling and decoration on the pack.
Luxury Food Pack
This category is open to luxury packaging in any material or format for all edible products, including but not restricted to chocolates, biscuits, condiments and oils, cheeses and so on.
Luxury Packaging Supplier
This category will reward the luxury packaging supplier – either a manufacturer or a sourcing partner – that judges consider to have made the best overall contribution to luxury packaging design and innovation in the year under review. Judges will be looking for evidence of a consistent output of outstanding work that demonstrates excellent quality, innovation in materials and form, a strong sense of luxury and beauty and evidence of value being added to the brands.
Luxury Resource Efficient Pack
New for 2019, this category recognises the efficient use of resources in manufacturing the pack - sustainability is at the core of this award. Judges will reward the pack that shows the best social and environmental credentials, taking into account factors including:
- Does the packaging use the minimum adequate amount of materials to provide the necessary protection and preservation of the product?
- After use, is the packaging capable of being recovered either as energy, a material or composted?
- Did the design brief consider the environmental impact of the packaging?
Luxury Seasonal Pack
This category is open to all gift packs for premium and luxury goods. These can include seasonal gift packs for festivals such as Christmas, Easter, Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Thanksgiving, Eid, Diwali, Hanukkah or Valentine’s Day. Entries may also be for gift packs for other product categories.
Special Edition Pack - Drinks
This category is open to packs in the alcoholic beverages sector that are part of a limited promotional campaign. Entrants must explain how the pack is a limited edition, what value that limited edition campaign delivered to the brand and how the pack fitted in to the wider marketing campaign, if there was one.
Special Edition Pack - Other Goods
This category is open to packs in non-drinks that are part of a limited promotional campaign. Entrants must explain how the pack is a limited edition, what value that limited edition campaign delivered to the brand and how the pack fitted in to the wider marketing campaign, if there was one.
This category is specially designed to recognise the pack demonstrating the greatest technical achievement in the competition. Packs in any material and for any luxury or premium product may be entered directly into this category. Packs in this category will be judged on qualities including, but not limited to, their outstanding manufacturing quality, innovative use of materials and/or production technologies, the cost of goods or their success in overcoming specific hurdles in the manufacturing process.
